In a drift application when high steering angles are required, the steering link and knuckle position can align, making steering very difficult. This is known as steering bind or over centering and the best solution is to move forward the inboard mount on the steering rack. This can be achieved with offset rack spacers, however, by creating this offset, a bending moment is applied to the steering rack. This over time leads to the deterioration of the rack seals, or even the bending of the rack. So, for a dedicated drift car, the best solution to steering bind is to do away with the offset rack spacers and relocate the entire rack forward.

Presenting the Gktech Z34 370z/G37 Steering Rack Relocation Kit, that is a fully bolt in solution and does not require any welding!

Because of the shape of the OEM subframe, in order to relocate the rack, the OEM subframe must be cut apart, so minor fabrication skills are required. Then new braces/ mounts are to be bolted in which also now strengthens the subframes cut away sections.

Our kit moves the rack forward 1.18" (30mm) and contains a detailed install guide along with cutting templates to make the install process as smooth as possible.

This rack relocation has been designed from a 3D scan to ensure an accurate match and fitment and constructed from 0.11" (3mm) 4130 Chromoly Solid Steel.

Can be used in either a LHD or RHD configuration.

LOWER FRONT BRACE
We have included the option for additional subframe bracing which is heavily recommended if you are running the OEM engine.

If you are running an engine swap or conversion with other bracing, then the bracing can only be run if the oil pan doesn't sit below the OEM crossmember.

SOLID STEERING RACK BUSHES
Another optional in this listing is a set of billet solid steering rack bushes to ensure the relocated rack does not move. Solid bushes minimize toe compliance for a more direct feel for vehicle control and improved driver feedback.

SPEED SENSITIVE DELETE FITTING
When racing or drifting the steering at speed gets harder due to the factory speed sensitive steering solenoid. To overcome this we have made a custom stainless steel 316 fitting that simply and very easily replaced the factory solenoid with no negative effect.

More information can be seen HERE

NOTE #1: Raises engine by 0.11" (3mm), which has no adverse effect.

NOTE #2: Fits the RZ34 Z Front subframe, however we cannot confirm fitment on the RZ34 Z EPAS Steering Rack.

FAQs

How far does this kit move the steering rack forward?
1.18" (30mm)

Do I need the steering rack extender?
No, any steering extensions are not required to reach the relocated rack position.

Do I need the speed sensitive delete fitting and tool?
If you are moving the rack forwards then more then likely this kit is being fitting to a track car or similar so we would recommend to remove the speed sensitive delete sensor to avoid any random feedback whilst on track. For the tool, tool access on the 370z is not the best, which is why we give the option for you to purchase a tool to make removal of the factory solenoid easier. The alternative is to shave an old spanner down to around 5mm in thickness. We can only confirm tool fitment on solenoids that look like the one in our product photos.
